The Aircraft Mechanic II performs the full range of military tactical aircraft maintenance and maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty

Principal Accountabilities

  • Remove and install aircraft subsystem assemblies and components such as engines, rotors, transmissions, mechanical flight controls and their components.
  • Service and lubricate aircraft and subsystems.
  • Safely prepare aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks and services.
  • Perform scheduled inspections and assist in performing special inspections.
  • Perform limited maintenance operational checks and diagnoses and troubleshoots aircraft systems using special tools and test equipment as required.
  • Use and perform operator maintenance on tools, special tools and aircraft ground support equipment.
  • Apply comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as aircraft Technical Manuals, Maintenance Information and Action Messages and all technical guidance provided through government official representatives.
  • Maintain and repair aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.
  • Apply technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and use required expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation.
  • Participate in maintenance test flights and operation checks as required.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts.
  • Broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical theory and a thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers.
  • Working knowledge of technical publications and Logistics Information Systems.
  • Able to prioritize workloads to maintain schedules on assigned projects and is required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks.
  • Participate in maintenance test flights and operation checks as required.
  • Possess the level of experience to inspect all required aeronautical type maintenance to be performed by Mechanics.
  • The incumbent receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician, will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks, and may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records.
  • Completion of high school or equivalent and U.S. military technical school or specialized training course is desired; certification of education level is required.
  • Three (3) or more years aviation maintenance experience within the past (6) years on that mission design series (MDS).
  • Experience in maintenance, modification and repair of tactical aircraft systems of the type being serviced and their associated components.
  • Valid FAA Airframe & Power plant (A&P) License for mechanics and sheetmetal is preferred.
  • Valid FCC Elements 1 and 3 licenses for electricians and/or FAA Airframe & Power plant (A&P) License is preferred.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

  • Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for extended periods throughout the day.
  • Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.
  • Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.
  • May be required to lift heavy objects whose weight may exceed 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to type using a standard keyboard to communicate through e-mail and various software applications.
  • Will handle dirty parts and lubricants.
  • Will be required to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Must be able to pass a Respirator Physical and Fit Test qualification.
  • May be required to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, fork lift, etc.
  • Must be able to lift/push/pull minimum of 50 pounds.
  • May work in maintenance shop or outside.
  • Must be able to work in a shop where the environment is drafty, noisy, and dirty.
  • May be exposed to extreme noise from operating equipment.
  • May be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts or vehicles.

The candidate will need to champion and drive projects from inception to delivery by working with other business partners.

  • Collaborate with, developers, security traders and other members of the research team to develop new and improve existing algorithms that optimize capital markets performance.
  • Utilize combination of statistical analysis, data mining and deep learning techniques to improve system development and research effectiveness
  • Apply leading-edge machine learning techniques to large financial data sets and optimize quantitative research performance
  • Data Exploratory Analysis.
  • Lead the development of new Predictive models working with internal stakeholders from gathering requirements to delivery.
  • Perform data mining by applying machine learning and supervised learning algorithms.
  • Support advanced analytical and data mining efforts which could include but not limited to clustering, segmentation, logistic and multivariate regression, decision/CART trees, neural networks, time-series analysis, sentiment analysis, topic modeling, and Bayesian analysis
  • Visualize, interpret, report, and communicate data findings creatively in a various formats and audiences using Tableau, ggplot.
  • Integrate with cloud based web technologies via web services API.
  • Think creatively and work well both as part of a team and as an individual contributor.
  • Responsible for defining the structures of solutions and architectures to address client business problems.
  • The data scientist understands client needs and business constraints.
  • Works in levels of abstraction and applies industry knowledge, and leverages appropriate business elements, machine learning and information technology to address those needs. .
  • Bachelor’s degree in Machine Learning, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related quantitative disciplines, with a minimum of five years of relevant experience (Bachelor’s required, Master’s or PhD’s preferred)
  • Expert in analytical tools like R, SAS, SQL.
  • Have hands-on experience developing predictive models using analytical methods such as regression, decision trees, support vector machines, Random Forests, Neural Networks.
  • Have hands-on experience using relational database management systems (Oracle, Teradata, SQL Server, DB2 etc.)
  • Hands on experience in Java, Hadoop, HIVE, Scala, Apache Spark and MLLib – to include developing Machine Learning Algorithms in Spark MLLib and building real time models preferably in Spark MLLib.
  • Expertise in visualization tools like Tableau, ggplot is a plus.
  • Expertise in Python, Linux is a plus.
  • Exceptional ability to communicate and present findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills
